BEAUTIFUL DAY #2 TO TWO RIVERS

Joan's View

Tony really loves road construction!

After waking up to another beautiful forecast, we decided to change our route so that we could visit the Kohler Design Center. It only added 5 miles or so to our total mileage for the day. It was smooth sailing until met road construction. The sign read, "No Thru Traffic" so Tony decided to go through it πŸ‘‰. Well, it was fairly nicely packed gravel until we got over the bridge, and then it turned rocky right before we met up with lots of heavy construction equipment busy at work. Tony walked the tandem quite a distance and then the road was virtually blocked by more equipment. The sides of the street were cut out maybe 3 feet, but we decided to lift the bike. Just as we started to lift the front wheel, one of the construction guys came over and pointed out an easier way out. Whew, because Tony was uncertain that we could lift the whole tandem that high.

At the Kohler Design Center we explored and checked out ideas for our next house (currently in the Tony early planning stage). We also used there nice, modern bathrooms there. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€That's uber important when you're traveling by bike and you're a woman.

The beach at the Cleveland park
Our roadside park view
We traveled a long distance on a highway with small shoulders, but drivers were really kind and gave us lots of space when passing us. We found a great roadside park in Cleveland along Lake Michigan to refuel and take in the great views (they had nice bathrooms too). Yes, we both loved being in Cleveland again especially since we used to live there. We had a sweet Cleveland sign picture, but our wifi is causing us to skip some pics. Anyway, Tony ate his leftover pizza in Cleveland that came from the restaurant, El Ritrovo, the night before.

The beautiful bike path
We found an eagle's nest on the bike path &
Tony wore his USA shirt. The sculpture
was title, "On Eagle's Wings"
As went through Manitowoc, we picked up another beautiful bike trail along the Lake. The weather today was so amazing and it made the bike ride so enjoyable. We followed it all the way to Two Rivers and our hotel, which is right on the Lake.

Our room was still needed to be cleaned when we arrived, so we left the bike in the lobby for the desk personnel to watch and Tony took a dip in their pool & hot tub. He even managed to stop at their lounge for a blueberry beer before our room was ready.

There are blueberries on the bottom
The Schroeders in front of Schroeder's !!!

We had a yummy dinner at the hotel restaurant which also overlooked the lake, and Tony got his blueberry beer. After dinner, Tony got some ice cream (yes, he found ice cream) and we sat outside on a beach bench to say our rosary since we forgot to say it on our ride here. We decided to do a little more walking and ventured into downtown Two Rivers. We spotted an awesome sign with an awesome last name and they even pronounce Schroeder the same here as we do. We checked out a local band playing in the park, just missed a farmer's market, and stopped for a little fried rice at a local Chinese place for my ride tomorrow.

Did we tell you that there's a 100% chance of rain tomorrow?

Tony's View

I am getting up early to check the hourly weather and decide what time we want to be out. I guess you could say, when do we want to get wet during our 59 mile trip tomorrow? Yes, the longest ride of this trip is tomorrow with 100% chance of rain. But who cares, we will have fun and make it a level 6 energy moment. Meaning even of it is raining, bicycle touring is a wonderful joy, and brings great memories. I really enjoyed Kohler today and the toilet to the right is awesome. It hangs on the wall, making it easy to clean under and the lid pops off which also makes it easy to clean. Doesn't everyone get excited about toilets? There were many cool, but expensive things there. We did run into some hills today, but they were rolling and the speed down the one would get you up most of the way on the next. Best kind of hills on a tandem.
