Day 4 Zurich, Switzerland - Walking in the Heat

Tony's View

First of all, I have a retraction, Nick Balog is also crazy enough to go skydiving from our family! (He did it in Texas with a bunch of his other daredevil friends).

Who would have thought that it is hotter in Zurich then in Ohio? 95 degrees and humid. After getting the blog caught up and test riding the tandem, which we adjusted the brakes and a few other tweaks, we headed out to explore Zurich. I think we are ready for tomorrow, I guess we will find out.

We started off heading to the local Bakery and had some Apple Strudel and a cappuccino. The picture shows our brunch and Joan showing off her new backpack. On our walk we ran into a parking garage. Over here that is bicycles.
Once a year they allow people to swim in the Limmat River that runs through downtown. There were people all over the river and thousands in line all the way across the bridge to jump in.

Joan and I walked to a Flea Market.
We discussed we couldn't buy anything no matter how good the deals may be. Luckily, we weren't too teased with deals. On the way back we visited the oldest Catholic Church in Zurich, Wasserkirche, built in the 800's.

We stopped at a supermarket to get dinner and snacks for tomorrow. We ate dinner and went to an English-speaking mass at St. Anton, probably the only one in English for the whole trip. Getting to bed early for an early start tomorrow.

Joan's Extras

The "apfel strudel" was awesome!!! Just the way I like it - very thin pastry with lots of apples, cinnamon & raisins.
The grocery was pretty cool too. Flat escalators for you and your shopping cart to get to the 2nd floor. I'm still looking forward to getting to Aldi though.
Tonight, we are packing and doing laundry. We have a washer & dryer, so we want to take advantage of it when we have it. We are also getting hydrated. Tomorrow is forecast to be just as hot. Even though we plan to get started early, Tony says the real climbing is the last half of the ride. That means somebody is going to have to dig in deeper........ stayed tuned!
