Day 22 - Šiauliai, Lithuania - Do Biking Stuff at a Museum & Shop
Joan's View
Today was another warm and wonderful day to explore Šiauliai. We started walking along the almost mile long pedestrian street.
It led us to our first stop, the bicycle museum. Even though it is a small museum, it was interesting (and we got in half price because we are seniors 😉). Check out this bike that they labeled, "A future bicycle." Kind of looks like the front of our tandem?
Another bike was ridden by a Lithuanian and nine others around the world. You can see their route on the map. Anybody want to do that ride with Tony?
We also tested a wooden bike and an uncomfortable bench.
Next stop was a bike shop. No pictures from there though. That's just Tony doing more research but in-store this time.
Another find on the pedestrian street was St. Ignatius Loyola Church. The church was locked, but there was a statue of John Paul II nearby. "On September 11, 1993, Pope John Paul II found peace and a shelter of rest there, blessing both the church and the future school." There is now a catholic school next to the church and lots of parents were picking up their kids.
We walked the whole length of the pedestrian street and found a patio restaurant. Yes, Doug, the beer theme continued there. Tony's dish was even named, "Beer Plate" on the menu.
