Day 32 - Krakow, Poland - John Paul II & St. Faustina Day

Joan's View

Our guide, Alex, drove us to some sites that our key on our WCT (World Catholic Tour).

First stop was a church where John Paul traveled to with his father. His mother died when he was nine, shortly before his first communion.

A pilgrimage site

Next stop was in John Paul's home town of Wadovice. We toured the John Paul museum at the site of where he grew up. Just a few highlights.

Soil collected from places he visited.

The view of the church next to his home.

John Paul's bedroom

A store was on the ground floor.

Tony loved his skis

The scapular given to the Pope at his 1st communion and worn all his life.

Before we walked to the church next door that JP II grew up going to, we stopped for coffee and Pope cake. Really yummy and it was one of JP II's favorites.

In the church:

The baptismal fount where JPII was baptized.

A beautiful altar.

It was a drive to get to the next to stops on the WCT. First was the shrine of Divine Mercy. We went to mass in the new, modern basilica.
The golden globe tabernacle opens.

The convent where Saint Faustina died is next to the basilica. A chapel is attached to it.

The room where Saint Faustina passed.

Lastly, we visited the Sanctuary of John Paul II. His statue outside faces the Divine Mercy Shrine. There are chapels inside that circle the main church. John Paul's gown that he wore when he was shot is on display there too.

A chapel that shows John Paul II surrounded by saints that he beatified.
